Tufton leading the COVID-19 Response

As the world battles with the COVID-19 virus, ministers of health are taking centre stage in drawing battle lines to overcome the pandemic and save as many lives as possible.  In Jamaica it’s no different for the Minister of Health and Wellness Dr. Christopher Tufton leads the national response to the pandemic. 

Tufton has been active in politics for several years as a member of the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). Besides being Member of Parliament, he served on previous occasions as Minister of Commerce and Minister of Agriculture. 

With a doctorate in Business Administration, Tufton lectures at University of the West Indies (UWI) Department for Management Studies; one of other several pursuits along with his political career.

In early March Tufton was commended by Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the island’s comprehensive approach to containing COVID-19 in Jamaica.
