Sky Galley – An exhibition space in Kingston Jamaica
The Sky Galley is a hub for multi-disciplinary creative expressions, a space for artists to showcase their art to an appreciative audience. Situation on the top floor and roof of the building at 9-11 Pheonix Avenue in uptown Kingston, Sky Gallery is fast becoming the place to see and experience outstanding works by contemporary artists.
Founder Tara Brown told the Gleaner, “There are not enough spaces here for our artists. In doing real estate, I had to always be using art to decorate and had reached a period where I was literally hunting for art and artists. That’s where I started dabbling in finding out about local and regional artists and developed a real appreciation for art.” Brown's aspiration is that the Sky Gallery will ‘serve as a welcoming platform for artists or creatives while at the same time acting as a medium for persons to enjoy and appreciate art.” Sky Gallery was established in 2021 as a physical and online art gallery.
Since opening the Sky Gallery has hosted a dizzying array of events, including twelve art exhibitions, poetry nights, film launches, art workshops as well as music and dance performances. Artists from across the region are invited to exhibit at Sky’s monthly rotation of exhibitions, a firm fixture on Jamaica’s art scene.
When next you are in Kingston, make some time to visit Sky Gallery.
