Here are a few things to do while in Kingston

So you are in Kingston once again and wondering what to do in this lively little city.  You visited the Bob Marley Museum, Port Royal, Strawberry Hill Spa and Devon House the last time you were there. Now it is a time for new adventures!  Here are a few suggestions.

Visit the Olympia Gallery

The Olympia Gallery is possibly the largest private gallery in Kingston and houses a wide collection of fine art. Its octagonal shape gives viewers an unusual visual experience of the gallery floor.  There are several activities, not least of all its End of Year Show which features the works of over twenty established and new artists. Spend an evening at Carib 5

Carib 5 has five movie cinemas showing the latest block buster movies.  It was built 1938 with a dramatic exterior façade of sea and waves.  Inside the walls and ceiling were designed to create the illusion of being in the Caribbean Sea looking up at the surface.  While the exterior remains the same the interior has been modernized, but still maintains some its early charm. Relax at Hope Botanical Gardens and Zoo

Rated, ‘very good’ among TripAdvisor’s members, Hope Gardens is a splendid place to spend a quiet moment.  The small, well-kept zoo has animals endemic to Jamaica.  The botanical garden offers a wide range of beautiful plants and trees. It’s also worth seeing the Chinese Garden, the newest addition to the park.  Take a picnic along or have a meal at one of their restaurants.

Go to the races

Horse racing is a popular spectator sport for many.  If you share this interest then Caymanas Park is the place to be.  Saturday is the main racing day. In addition to the excitement on the tracks you can enjoy sumptuous meals and watch the races from the North Lounge, which has a panoramic view of the tracks. Go to a live show

There are several theatres in Kingston and a year round calendar of shows to see.
